About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform repair stress analysis and develop analytical methods for complex technical issues to support airline operational requirements and design changes
- Apply advanced structural analysis principles to support repair design development on metallic and composite structures
- Prepare RDAS/8110-3 documents, including substantiating analysis, and coordinate sign-off with Airworthiness organizations
- Make quick engineering judgments and perform margins exploration analysis for repair solutions on various nacelle components
- Mentor junior engineers and lead teams in the generation of standard work for repair development
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external customers regarding complex technical issues
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and management personnel to ensure compliance with FAA/EASA requirements
Requirements
- STEM degree and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 5 years of experience
- Experience with repair analysis of aircraft metallic and/or composite structures
- Knowledge of maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO), and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry
- Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA) of aircraft structures using Patran/Nastran
- Experience with classical hand analysis methods, including load paths, load balance, and free body diagrams
- Strong technical writing skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in MRB and MRO repairs
- Knowledge of automation using Excel VBA and Visual Basic applications
- Experience with composite nacelle and exhaust repairs
- Basic CATIA V and FiberSim skills
- Detailed understanding of nacelle systems and specialty aerospace manufacturing processes
