Principal Storage Engineering Expert (NAS)

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reference architectures, engineering standards, and operational guardrails for file, hybrid, block, and SAN-related storage services.
• Lead hands-on delivery for EoL hardware/software lifecycle refreshes, including planning, validation, and cutover execution.
• Plan and execute file migrations and consolidations using repeatable methodologies to minimize downtime.
• Engineer and optimize enterprise file storage services with a primary emphasis on NFS, including snapshots, replication, and tiering.
• Design and deliver hybrid cloud file storage patterns for net-new cloud workloads, disaster recovery, and data tiering.
• Provide engineering support for enterprise block storage platforms and SAN connectivity, including LUN design and FC zoning.
• Drive performance troubleshooting and optimization using data-driven analysis of latency, IOPS, and throughput.
• Document all engineering work, troubleshooting methodologies, and runbooks in ServiceNow to ensure seamless MSP operational handoffs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of enterprise storage engineering experience with significant hands-on delivery responsibility.
• Strong expertise in enterprise file storage (NetApp) with NFS as a primary protocol.
• Hands-on exposure to hybrid cloud storage configuration and patterns for workloads and disaster recovery.
• Working knowledge of block storage fundamentals (LUN concepts, multipathing) and SAN concepts (Fibre Channel).
• Strong troubleshooting skills across storage, OS (Linux/Windows), and network layers.
• Demonstrated discipline in ITSM documentation (ServiceNow), change control, and audit readiness.
• Ability to work the required shift of 3 PM to 12 AM IST.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep NetApp ONTAP expertise (snapshots, replication, upgrades, and performance tuning).
• Experience with cloud file services such as Azure NetApp Files and Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP.
• Experience with enterprise block platforms like IBM FlashSystem or Dell PowerMax.
• Exposure to Brocade or Cisco SAN fabric concepts and zoning strategies.
• Automation experience using scripting or IaC (Python, PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform).
