Principal/Staff Engineer - Compliance

Responsibilities

• Formulate and develop technical schemes for compliance domain projects, including KYC onboarding, identity verification, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring.
• Lead the integration of AI/ML-powered features such as intelligent screening disambiguation, document verification, and automated risk scoring.
• Design the boundary between probabilistic AI models and deterministic logic to ensure auditability and enforcement integrity.
• Partner with Data Science, Risk, and Legal teams to productionize models and build reliable, auditable inference infrastructure.
• Cultivate technical talent by establishing AI engineering best practices, including agentic coding patterns, prompt libraries, and evaluation suites.

Requirements

• Extensive production experience with Java and distributed systems principles (consistency, idempotency, and exactly-once semantics).
• Proven experience integrating AI/ML model inference into production services (REST/gRPC-based serving, feature engineering, and latency optimization).
• Hands-on experience with LLM application patterns, such as RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, or LLM-based classification/extraction.
• High fluency with modern AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) and the ability to build guardrails around AI-generated code.
• Strong discipline regarding AI output, including the use of evaluation suites, hallucination tests, and human-in-the-loop review processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in KYC, AML, sanctions, fraud, or payments.
• Experience navigating or surviving a regulatory audit.
• Exposure to AI agent frameworks and system-level prompt engineering.
