Principal Solar Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define and own the manufacturing strategy for solar hardware including modules, photovoltaic arrays, and integrated wing assemblies
• Drive solar array manufacturability at the architecture and concept level
• Own the manufacturing technical baseline including process qualification, tooling design, and assembly specifications
• Lead technical response to manufacturing anomalies, non-conformances, and systemic build issues
• Champion transformative manufacturing technologies in automation, metrology, and bonding processes
• Serve as a technical mentor for the Solar Manufacturing Engineering team
• Represent manufacturing engineering in executive and design reviews

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, materials, or relevant engineering discipline
• 10+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing or production environments
• Recognized technical authority in solar manufacturing and photovoltaic array integration
• Demonstrated history of shaping product designs through DFM influence
• Experience owning manufacturing technical baselines through design overhauls or production transitions
• Proven ability to lead and develop engineers and influence cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scaling solar or high-reliability electromechanical hardware to full-rate production
• Background in advanced manufacturing automation, robotic assembly, or vision-guided systems
• Prior work on space-grade solar arrays or flight power systems
• Familiarity with reliability physics and radiation effects on photovoltaic materials
