Principal Software Engineer Team Lead, Map Engineering

Responsibilities

• Provide people leadership and build a strong engineering and leadership bench within the Mapping organization
• Partner with leadership to influence long-term vision and technical strategy for scaling production mapping solutions
• Serve as a collaboration partner with adjacent domains like Localization, Perception, and Planning
• Uplevel teams by creating robust processes and quality frameworks for safety-critical systems
• Own the operationalization of the commercial mapping pipeline, focusing on throughput and reliability
• Oversee the design and architecture of scalable mapping infrastructure and large-scale distributed systems

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of experience managing engineers
• 2+ years of experience managing managers in a fast-paced production environment
• Proven ability to set multi-year technical strategies for complex engineering domains
• Experience building and shipping production software in safety-critical environments
• Deep technical experience with large-scale data processing pipelines and geospatial infrastructure
• Experience integrating Machine Learning or Computer Vision for automated map feature extraction

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Mapping, Robotics, or Autonomous Vehicle industry
• Knowledge of high-definition map formats and dynamic map layers
• Familiarity with cloud-based geodata processing platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
