Principal Software Engineer II, VP

Responsibilities

• Serve as a principal technical authority for key initiatives and core modules within Charles River platforms
• Define and evolve system architecture, design standards, and engineering best practices
• Design, develop, and implement large-scale, multi-tier, mission-critical enterprise systems
• Drive adoption of modern cloud architecture, frameworks, and emerging technologies
• Establish and enforce technical governance, including design and code reviews
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives and mentor engineers at all levels
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and escalation support for high-visibility client deployments

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 10-15+ years of commercial software development experience, including senior or principal roles
• Expert proficiency in Java, C++, or C#
• Strong database and data modeling skills (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.)
• Deep understanding of cloud-based and distributed systems
• Extensive experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• Background in financial services (Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, etc.)
• Experience with compiler design, optimizers, solvers, or semantic analysis
• Exposure to Machine Learning, AI, or cognitive computing
