Principal Software Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Architect foundation primitives for Agentic AI Data Engineering, including internal engines for Dynamic Tables, Streams, and Tasks
• Build the Data Transformation Processing Fabric for automated triggers and incremental processing logic
• Innovate in system internals for stateful streaming and freshness-first system architecture
• Displace legacy orchestration layers by building native processing capabilities within the Snowflake engine
• Engineer for global scale, handling exabytes of data with resource isolation and distributed consistency
• Drive technical strategy for the AI era, influencing core compute fabric for Model Context Protocol and Spark workflows
• Partner with strategic customers to translate architectural challenges into core engine requirements
• Ensure operational excellence regarding reliability, availability, and performance

Requirements

• 14+ years of industry experience building database systems internals, distributed systems internals, or large-scale data processing engines
• Deep expertise in stateful stream processing, incremental view maintenance, distributed transactions, and query execution internals
• Proven track record in solving complex problems in consensus, replication, and high-concurrency environments at cloud scale
• Strong technical leadership experience setting architectural direction and mentoring senior engineers
• Infrastructure-first mindset focused on building engines and operating systems
