Principal Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own and contribute to architecture and development of enterprise Java applications
• Provide technical guidance on design and implementation across distributed teams
• Support modernisation and evolution of legacy forensic systems
• Ensure scalable, maintainable and high-performance solutions
• Develop enterprise applications across client and server components using Java 11/17 and Jakarta EE
• Design and optimise backend services and data models using PostgreSQL and Hibernate
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps
• Manage containerised environments using Docker
• Collaborate within Agile/Scrum delivery teams across global locations

Requirements

• Proficiency in Java (11 / 17) and Java EE / Jakarta EE
• Experience with Eclipse RCP, SWT, and JFace
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, JPA, and Hibernate
• Experience with WildFly Application Server
• Proficiency with Git, Azure DevOps, and Docker
• Expertise in object-oriented design and design patterns (SOLID, Clean Code)
• Experience with Maven or Eclipse Tycho

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in enterprise Java development and DevOps practices
• Proven experience in both software architecture and hands-on development
• Experience working in regulated or complex operational environments such as Forensics or LIMS
