Principal Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end software architecture and act as the final arbiter for all design decisions
• Write and review production-quality numerical simulation code in a compiled systems language
• Design and implement the data access layer for large binary scientific datasets and HPC job outputs
• Define and enforce interface contracts between the simulation core, data layer, API backend, and desktop client
• Design the HPC job lifecycle including submission, monitoring, and event streaming
• Build and maintain the application backend with real-time event fan-out and RBAC
• Mentor engineers across the stack and conduct deep technical code reviews
• Write detailed design documents for implementation by junior engineers

Requirements

• Solid knowledge of analytical and numerical orbit propagation and astrodynamics
• Strong hands-on experience in a compiled systems language like C++ for numerically intensive code
• Expertise in shared-memory parallelism, memory layout design, and cache-friendly access
• Experience designing scientific data pipelines and binary data formats for large time-series datasets
• Proficiency in async server development, event loops, and long-lived connection management
• Direct experience with HPC workload managers like SLURM
• Experience with native desktop application development and custom OpenGL rendering
• Proficiency in build system authorship and Python environment management
