Principal Software Engineer

About the Company

Arlo is rebuilding health insurance for small businesses from first principles. By using AI as a foundation across underwriting, operations, and clinical programs, Arlo aims to reduce administrative overhead and ensure more premium dollars go directly to care.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship full-stack products across the insurance lifecycle using React, React Native, TypeScript, Python, and Postgres
• Build AI-native underwriting systems to synthesize risk and structure messy data
• Create claims tooling to automate review and document processing workflows
• Develop internal operational platforms for managing premiums and healthcare spend
• Build member-facing products combining conversational AI and real-time healthcare workflows
• Design retrieval, memory, and evaluation systems to improve AI reliability
• Own projects end-to-end from product architecture to production deployment

Requirements

• Deep experience designing and scaling complex software systems
• Exceptional judgment across product, engineering, and operational tradeoffs
• Track record of leading highly ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives
• Strong intuition for applying AI to fundamentally change business workflows
• Ability to simplify complex organizational problems into scalable systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or fintech
• Strong sense of design and attention to UI detail
