Principal Software Developer – Data Architect

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical vision and architectural strategy for Caseware’s enterprise data platform and AI-Ready Data Platform.
• Define and execute enterprise data architecture, modeling standards, and reference architectures, including lakehouse and medallion patterns.
• Oversee key platform projects, including data layer re-architecture and schema modernization.
• Mentor development teams on high-quality data engineering practices, data modeling, and the responsible use of AI-assisted workflows.
• Partner with Security and product teams to define data governance, classification, tenant isolation, and access controls.
• Architect for data observability, implementing standards for lineage, traceability, and freshness monitoring.
• Enable platform adoption by providing reference implementations and blueprints for data products.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software development and data engineering.
• 5+ years in a senior technical leadership role (e.g., Principal Developer or Data Architect).
• Deep experience designing modern data platforms on AWS cloud-native infrastructure.
• Extensive experience with lakehouse and medallion architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Spark, Trino, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Proficiency with MongoDB, DynamoDB, and MS SQL Server.
• Proven ability to architect scalable, reliable data systems and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Strong communication skills to align cross-functional teams and engage with senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AI-ready data patterns, including embedding pipelines, vector-based retrieval, and RAG workflows.
• Practical experience with AI platform integration concepts such as AWS Bedrock, AWS Knowledge Bases, and MCP.
• Experience with event streaming and queueing using Kafka, SNS/SQS, or Pub/Sub.
• Experience with Postgres, pgvector, and infrastructure-as-code.
