Principal Scientist

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and lead small-scale downstream process development studies
• Analyze experimental data to refine hypotheses regarding recovery and purification processes
• Contribute to process characterization, validation strategies, and Quality by Design (QbD) approaches
• Author technical reports and present scientific results to cross-functional teams and management
• Serve as a technical resource within project teams to support decision-making
• Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and continuous improvement in R&D workflows
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to colleagues

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 11+ years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with 8+ years, or PhD with 3+ years
• Degree in a biological or engineering discipline (e.g., Biotechnology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering)
• Hands-on experience in recombinant protein downstream process development and technology transfer
• Strong understanding of protein chemistry and protein analytics
• Proven ability to drive experimental strategy and deliver results in a matrix environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and presentations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with recovery and purification from mammalian, microbial, or yeast expression systems
• Experience transferring biologics processes to pilot-scale or commercial manufacturing
• Experience supporting late-stage development, process validation, and commercialization
• Working knowledge of statistical experimental design and data analysis
• Broad understanding of the biologics drug development process
