Principal Scientist, Machine Learning

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and reporting of multiple AI/ML or computational projects across early-stage ventures.
• Oversee technical method development, including pipeline design, molecular modeling, and LLM-based agentic workflows.
• Drive benchmarking, scaling, and the implementation of models into production-grade systems.
• Manage and coordinate cross-functional teams of scientists and engineers, providing mentorship and technical leadership.
• Scout emerging literature and the AI/ML landscape to propose new development strategies for the venture portfolio.
• Represent the company to external partners and at scientific conferences as a subject matter expert.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Sciences, or a related field.
• 5+ years of scientific, engineering, or computational experience in academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology settings.
• Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Proven track record of driving high-impact, cross-disciplinary AI/ML projects.
• Experience leading or influencing technical decision-making within dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Domain expertise in protein modeling/design, proteomics, cheminformatics, biophysics, or LLM automation.
• MLOps expertise including tools like DVC, MLflow, W&B, Docker, and AWS infrastructure (SageMaker, EKS).
• Experience with generative modeling (diffusion, flow, VAEs) for sequences, graphs, or 3D structures.
• Proficiency in workflow orchestration (Airflow, Prefect) and data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift).
