Principal Scientist I or II - Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) and Open Access Instrumentation Support

Responsibilities

• Perform daily checks on instrument performance and routine upkeep of open access LC-MS instruments
• Respond to end-user repair calls and troubleshoot/repair simple issues such as leaks or clogs
• Coordinate cryogen orders and perform weekly liquid nitrogen fills for NMR instruments
• Perform daily sample clean up on open access NMR and clean electrospray ionization (ESI) process sources
• Assist with sample preparation and data acquisition setup for LC, LC-MS, and Circular Dichroism (CD) Spectroscopy
• Document LC-MS performance, uptime, and maintain accurate records
• Assist with purity analysis of investigational compounds using LC

Requirements

• Principal Scientist I: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 3-5 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 1-2 years of experience
• Principal Scientist II: Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years, or a PhD with 1+ year of experience
• Hands-on experience with High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and LC-MS
• Proficiency in mass spectral data interpretation, including structural assignments of unknown compounds
• Experience with development, optimization, validation, and sample preparation techniques

• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
• Excellent written and oral communication capabilities
• Experience preparing mobile phases for LC-MS instruments
