Principal Robotics Engineer

Responsibilities

• Evaluate robotics, automation, sensing, and manipulation solutions from vendors and research institutions
• Conduct technical due diligence and develop build-versus-buy recommendations
• Engage with robotics vendors to define technical requirements and performance benchmarks
• Design and specify comprehensive robotic automation architecture
• Integrate robotic systems with Automated Terminal Tractors (ATTs)
• Design and prototype robotic manipulation solutions, end-effectors, and automation mechanisms when commercial solutions are insufficient
• Develop perception, localization, and motion planning algorithms
• Support deployment, testing, and field validation efforts

Requirements

• PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
• 8+ years of robotics industry experience with real-world deployment
• Proven track record of delivering robotic solutions from concept to deployment
• Experience with industrial robotic platforms (e.g., ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, Universal Robots, Franka)
• Expertise in robotic manipulation, motion planning, computer vision, or sensor fusion
• Hands-on experience with C++, Python, ROS/ROS2, and MoveIt
• Strong knowledge of robot kinematics and controls

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modern AI-driven robotics (End-to-end learning, VLA/VLM models)
• Experience with imitation learning or reinforcement learning
• Experience with foundation models for robotics
