Responsibilities

• Support design of satellite communications systems hardware including RF-Front-End, LNA, SSPA, PLLs, and Filters
• Support selection and design of small satellite antenna technologies
• Develop link budget analyses, simulations, traffic/capacity analysis, and frequency planning
• Support satellite communications systems integration, testing, and delivery to launch partners
• Design and plan satellite communications systems testing configurations both in-lab and in-orbit
• Interface with Systems Engineering team to inform constellation and network architecture
• Perform bench level mechatronics work including testing, integration, assembly, and prototyping
• Support developing and maintaining technical documentation for hardware and software

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or better in RF or Electrical Engineering
• 15+ years of experience developing space payload hardware and software
• Thorough understanding of RF link budget and RF active/passive components
• Experience designing wireless communication systems and antenna theory principles
• Hands-on experience with RF Front End design, SDRs, LNA, SSPA, filters, and PLLs
• Proficiency with test equipment including VNAs, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C, Python, or MATLAB
• Experience working with Linux based systems
• Proficiency with electrical design software like Altium Designer, ADS, or SolidWorks
• Knowledge of communications protocols such as IP, TCP/IP, DVB-S/S2/S2X, or CCSDS
• Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
