About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform design activities across the full lifecycle, including concept, optimization, detailed design, validation, and manufacturing
- Design mechanical components and assemblies with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and manufacturability
- Provide technical leadership for medium to large-scale engineering projects
- Engage with suppliers for the sizing and selection of components such as pumps, valves, and motors
- Support production by dispositioning non-conforming material in coordination with materials and systems engineering
- Participate in internal and external product design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
- Support customers and suppliers through occasional domestic and international travel
Requirements
- STEM degree and minimum 8 years of relevant experience (or an Advanced Degree with 5 years of experience)
- Proven experience with hydraulic mechanical system design, analysis, and verification
- Proficiency with CAD software
- Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5M-1982 for drawing interpretation
- Experience designing mechanical assemblies using standard parts like seals, bearings, and plugs
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to leadership and customers
- Ability to lead technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering degree
- Experience with Siemens NX (Unigraphics)
- Aerospace industry experience and familiarity with FAA requirements
- Expertise in hydraulic system analyses, including orifice flow and system pressure drop
- Proficiency in design analyses such as FEA, thermal analysis, and tolerance stack-up
- Experience with engineering investigations and Relentless Root Cause Analysis (RRCA)
