Principal Propeller Hydromechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform design activities across the full lifecycle, including concept, optimization, detailed design, validation, and manufacturing
• Design mechanical components and assemblies with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and manufacturability
• Provide technical leadership for medium to large-scale engineering projects
• Engage with suppliers for the sizing and selection of components such as pumps, valves, and motors
• Support production by dispositioning non-conforming material in coordination with materials and systems engineering
• Participate in internal and external product design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
• Support customers and suppliers through occasional domestic and international travel

Requirements

• STEM degree and minimum 8 years of relevant experience (or an Advanced Degree with 5 years of experience)
• Proven experience with hydraulic mechanical system design, analysis, and verification
• Proficiency with CAD software
• Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5M-1982 for drawing interpretation
• Experience designing mechanical assemblies using standard parts like seals, bearings, and plugs
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to leadership and customers
• Ability to lead technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree
• Experience with Siemens NX (Unigraphics)
• Aerospace industry experience and familiarity with FAA requirements
• Expertise in hydraulic system analyses, including orifice flow and system pressure drop
• Proficiency in design analyses such as FEA, thermal analysis, and tolerance stack-up
• Experience with engineering investigations and Relentless Root Cause Analysis (RRCA)
