Principal Product Engineer

Responsibilities

• Set the architecture for BESS and DC Cabinet product lines and own the technical roadmap
• Make critical engineering trade-off decisions regarding cost, reliability, and performance
• Define engineering standards, design rules, and review gates for the team
• Manage multiple product development cycles from concept through field deployment
• Perform detailed engineering tasks including component sizing, thermal modeling, and protection schemes
• Oversee strategic vendor relationships and technical qualification processes
• Mentor engineers and lead design reviews and post-mortems
• Represent the company in technical reviews with customers, vendors, and certifying bodies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field
• 10+ years of engineering experience in BESS, power electronics, or mission-critical industrial power systems
• Proven experience owning multiple end-to-end product development cycles
• Demonstrated architecture-level decision authority on BESS or DC equipment
• Expertise in component sizing, fuse coordination, and busbar sizing
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or equivalent E-CAD software
• Ability to travel 25–30% for inspections, commissioning, and vendor reviews

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data center, UPS, or utility-scale BESS architecture
• Active involvement in standards bodies such as UL, IEC, NFPA, or IEEE
• PE license
• Familiarity with UL 9540/9540A, NFPA 855, and IEEE 1547
• Multi-domain depth in BMS, PCS, or thermal/mechanical engineering
