About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead process design delivery on multidisciplinary water/wastewater treatment projects across the full design lifecycle
  • Act as process technical lead owning design strategy, treatment process selection, and quality of deliverables
  • Review and approve process calculations, mass balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and technical specifications
  • Lead process modelling and simulation activities using tools such as BioWin, SUMO, or Dynamizu
  • Lead optioneering, process capacity assessments, value engineering, and HAZOP/SWIFT reviews
  • Drive multidisciplinary coordination across Mechanical, EICA, civil, and MEP teams
  • Mentor and manage engineers, supporting recruitment and chartership progression
  • Contribute to bids, client engagement, and growth of the process capability

Requirements

  • BEng/MEng in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status (e.g., IChemE)
  • 8–10+ years of relevant process design experience
  • Background in water, wastewater, and/or biosolids/sludge treatment design
  • Expertise in process selection, mass balance, PFDs, and P&IDs
  • Practical experience with BioWin, SUMO, Dynamizu, or equivalent modelling packages
  • Strong understanding of UK water industry standards and CDM 2015
  • Right to work in the UK

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nutrient removal, water reuse, or low-carbon design
  • Experience delivering AMP8, WINEP, or D&B projects
  • Advanced capability in process model calibration and dynamic simulation
  • Experience in bid writing and technical proposals
