Principal Power Plant Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations management of the Klamath Cogeneration Project to ensure safe, environmentally compliant, and fuel-efficient performance.
• Supervise, train, and develop a team of approximately 10 multi-skilled plant operations technicians.
• Coordinate with Asset Management and Trading staff to implement daily production targets and optimize plant availability.
• Manage plant safety programs and ensure compliance with all environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the plant-wide computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and coordinate with outside contractors and OEMs.
• Lead the operations coordination for both scheduled and unscheduled outages.
• Monitor facility heat rate and equipment performance, performing cost-benefit analyses for plant betterment projects.
• Participate in a rotating manager-on-call schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of management experience in power generation or a related field.
• Proven experience in power plant combined cycle operations.
• Strong expertise in performing root cause analysis for plant and equipment issues.
• Demonstrated skills in contract management and administration.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a high-urgency environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7 to 10+ years of power plant experience.
• Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Experience with plant and turbine distributed control systems.
• Knowledge of boiler and cooling tower water chemistry.
• Familiarity with environmental permits, regulations, and compliance reporting.
