About the role

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and develop new power electronics technologies to drive technical direction for power tool and equipment businesses
  • Apply expert knowledge of power semiconductors to drive system-level tradeoff studies for motor drives and power conversion electronics
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, topologies, and methods to reduce risk and enable future product insertion
  • Lead technology investigations including system requirements definition, architecture development, and data-driven assessments
  • Perform power loss, efficiency, thermal, and durability analyses to guide design decisions
  • Define and enforce EMI/EMC mitigation strategies for high-power, high-speed designs
  • Interact with suppliers to influence the design of components optimized for performance and cost targets
  • Provide technical leadership through mentoring, design reviews, and cross-functional collaboration

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience designing motor drives and power electronics, including switch mode power supply topologies and inverters
  • Expertise in modern brushless motor drive architectures and power conversion topologies
  • In-depth knowledge of silicon and GaN power semiconductors
  • Firm understanding of magnetic circuit design, including transformers and energy storage devices
  • Strong working knowledge of EMC/EMI concepts and mitigation methods
  • Proficiency with schematic capture, PCB layout, and SPICE simulation tools
  • Strong prototyping, debug, and root-cause analysis skills using lab instrumentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power electronics
