Principal Optical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and develop optical modules
• Architect optical systems, sub-systems, and components to support neutral atom computers
• Lead interdisciplinary teams through the full product development lifecycle from concept to production
• Advance engineering practices through independent research and problem-solving
• Coordinate with R&D teams to translate scientific advances into products
• Troubleshoot technical issues at headquarters and customer locations

Requirements

• Master's degree in optics, optical engineering, applied physics, or a related field
• 10-15 years of non-academic professional experience
• Deep knowledge of free-space optics, lens design, fiber optics, lasers, and opto-mechanics
• Experience in optical system characterization and testing
• Proven track record of bringing complex optical systems from concept to production
• Expertise in Mechanical CAD (Inventor, Solidworks), PDM, and PLM software
• Expertise in optical simulation software such as Zemax

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with quantum computing, specifically neutral atom technology
• Professional experience in commercial product development and off-site deployment
