Responsibilities
- Advise engineering design decisions based on radiation effects on materials used within the radiation shield vault
- Partner with neutronics engineers to predict dpa and analyze macroscopic effects on material properties
- Oversee testing campaigns to quantify impact of radiation on material properties
- Lead strategic projects to expand capabilities
- Perform literature reviews on radiation effects and distill information for non-nuclear engineers
- Partner with internal teams, external vendors, national laboratories, and universities
Requirements
- Degree in nuclear engineering, materials science, physics, or related discipline
- 15+ years of hands-on work in radiation effects on materials
- 15+ years of experience handling radioactive material
- 8+ years of experience in non-aqueous corrosion and environmentally assisted degradation mechanisms
- 8+ years of experience working on neutron interactions (transmutation or helium bubble generation)
- 8+ years of experience in data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or C++
- Proficiency in data presentation including rigorous consideration of uncertainty and statistics
