Principal Network Security Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own and mature Altera’s network security strategy, roadmap, and operational execution.
• Lead and coach a team of senior security analysts and engineers, providing professional development and direction.
• Drive the adoption of Zero Trust, micro-segmentation, and modern secure network design principles.
• Oversee secure network architecture reviews for datacenter, campus, cloud, WAN, and hybrid environments.
• Lead investigations into network intrusions, advanced malware, and exfiltration attempts.
• Direct major incident response actions and coordinate with executive stakeholders.
• Ensure alignment with industry frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, and ISO 27001.
• Act as the primary liaison for network security with Legal, Privacy, Risk, IT, and Cloud teams.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of information security experience with a focus on network security.
• 3–5+ years of experience managing security teams or leading security operations.
• Deep expertise in firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation, Zero Trust, and hybrid cloud networking.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel), NDR platforms, and EDR tools.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, packet analysis, and threat detection methodologies.
• Proven experience with Azure or AWS cloud security controls.
• Excellent executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with automation and scripting languages such as Python or KQL.
