Principal MSSQL Architect

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and high availability
• Write and optimize SQL queries to improve database performance and transaction processing
• Manage backup, restore, and recovery plans to ensure data protection and disaster recovery
• Implement and maintain database security protocols, access controls, and encryption
• Develop PowerShell and Python scripts for automating routine database tasks and report generation
• Use monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, and SQL Server Profiler to track database health and conduct root cause analysis
• Support SQL DBA and Windows Server administration for technical product deployments
• Work closely with infrastructure, development, and business teams to align database solutions with organizational goals

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator
• 6+ years of experience with SQL Query Language
• 6+ years of experience with PowerShell and Python scripting
• 6+ years of experience with Windows Server administration and network connectivity troubleshooting
• 4+ years of experience with Always On Availability Groups
• 4+ years of experience building Azure databases, including Azure SQL Database and Managed Instances
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace
• Familiarity with migration processes from on-premises SQL Server to Azure or AWS
• Relevant industry certifications
