About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic link between Alcon and Medical Experts (KOLs) in Ophthalmology and Optometry.
  • Support the development and adoption of Alcon products through evidence generation and scientific exchange.
  • Gather actionable insights to inform the company's understanding of therapeutic areas, market access, and clinical practice.
  • Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific exchange, medical information, and research proposals.
  • Guide Eye Care Professionals (ECPs) through the Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs) process, acting as an end-to-end study liaison.
  • Mentor and onboard new field Medical Affairs Managers in scientific subject matter and KOL management.
  • Deliver unbiased scientific data dissemination via medical presentations to practitioners, payers, and internal associates.
  • Provide support for healthcare coverage and access decisions using Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR).

Requirements

  • OD, MD/DO/MBBS, PhD, PharmD, or an advanced degree in Ophthalmology or Optometry.
  • Deep knowledge of eye diseases, ophthalmic surgical procedures, and optometry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ophthalmology or optometry (academia, industry, or practice).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience within the ophthalmic device or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare system, research procedures, ICH guidelines, and GCP.
  • Experience in designing and executing clinical trials, particularly in the post-market phase.
  • Proven expertise in medical writing, biostatistics, and scientific presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience at Alcon in an R&D or Global Medical Affairs (GMA) role.
  • Broad knowledge of product development, regulatory requirements, and life cycle management.
