About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical equipment engineering group to ensure design integrity for static and rotating equipment on specific projects
  • Provide specialist rotating equipment input to conceptual studies, FEED, and detailed design for oil & gas developments
  • Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, client requirements, and international/local standards
  • Prepare specifications for and evaluate rotating equipment packages
  • Undertake conceptual design and specification of rotating and packaged equipment
  • Review EPC detailed designs, technical bid evaluations, and vendor documentation
  • Allocate work to team members, ensuring tasks are completed within their competencies and under appropriate supervision
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance requirements and OH&S procedures
  • Align conceptual and detailed design work with construction complexity to balance design and implementation costs
  • Conduct site investigations and prepare technical reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • At least 15 years of total professional experience post-graduate studies
  • At least 10 years of experience in the oil & gas, petrochemical, or refinery industry
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or specialist role
  • Hands-on experience with static and rotating equipment (e.g., gas turbine-driven compressors, pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Middle East project environment
  • Experience working in a PMC (Project Management Consultancy) environment
  • Experience working with a contractor or in a comparable delivery model
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines with minimal supervision
