About the role

Responsibilities

  • Translate high-level mission needs into actionable functional and operational requirements for complex electromechanical systems
  • Design and iterate on electromagnetic actuators and intricate mechanisms including gears, bearings, and braking systems
  • Develop high-performance avionics enclosures with focus on thermal management and structural survivability
  • Architect test equipment and methodologies for formal hardware qualification per DO-160 and MIL-STD-810
  • Act as a technical anchor guiding integration efforts and supporting multidisciplinary teams
  • Partner with external suppliers to ensure delivery of conforming hardware and manage manufacturing deviations
  • Perform hands-on assembly, bring-up, and debugging of hardware prototypes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of experience through the full product lifecycle from ideation to flight-qualified production
  • Advanced design experience in SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor
  • Fluency in ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
  • Proven track record of qualifying hardware against DO-160 or MIL-STD-810 standards
  • Proficiency in sizing analysis for strength, fatigue, and life cycles of actuator components
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degrees (M.S. or above)
  • Experience with JPL, NASA, or DoD programs
  • Experience designing custom test equipment and writing formal test plans
  • Detailed knowledge of AGMA Standards and gearbox design analysis
  • Experience with optomechanical systems and robotic platforms
