Principal Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, documentation, and testing of complex mechanical components and systems from concept through flight demonstration
• Manage the full product lifecycle within a rapid prototyping and vertically integrated environment
• Act as the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) for complex mechanical systems
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and delegate tasks based on project priorities and skill sets
• Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams to provide quick-turn innovation, design, fabrication, and assembly

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience developing components and systems
• Proficiency with CAD software such as Pro/E, CREO, SolidWorks, NX, or Fusion360
• Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems like Windchill, Teamcenter, or Autodesk Vault
• Active and existing DoD Secret security clearance required on day one

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a STEM field
• Experience with CAE software (ANSYS, COMSOL, ABAQUS, or Nastran) and MATLAB
• Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Knowledge of design for manufacture (DFM) involving traditional fabrication or 3D printing
• Experience managing program transitions from development to production
