About the role
Responsibilities
- Act as a senior technical authority and subject matter expert for heat transfer equipment across complex greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Deliver safe, sustainable, and technically sound engineering solutions for shell-and-tube heat exchangers, air coolers, plate heat exchangers, and related thermal systems.
- Lead complex engineering activities including equipment selection, thermal design reviews, specifications, datasheets, and technical bid evaluations.
- Provide expert technical review and approval of heat transfer equipment deliverables produced by project teams and global execution centres.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex thermal performance issues, mechanical design challenges, fouling, vibration, and thermal stress.
- Interface with vendors and OEMs for technical alignment, shop inspections, and factory acceptance tests (FATs).
- Provide mentorship, technical coaching, and professional development support to intermediate and senior mechanical engineers.
- Contribute to the development of discipline standards, specifications, tools, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA (or eligibility for immediate registration).
- Extensive mechanical engineering experience with a strong focus on heat transfer equipment in industrial facilities.
- Deep technical expertise in thermal and mechanical design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of heat transfer equipment.
- Highly conversant with industry codes including TEMA, ASME Section VIII, API 660, and API 661.
- Proven experience in industries such as Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemicals, LNG, Hydrogen, or CCUS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience acting as a lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) on large, multidisciplinary capital projects.
- Experience supporting business development, technical governance, or discipline capability development.
