Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of water and wastewater treatment assets including pumping stations, pipelines, and chemical dosing systems
• Produce and review design deliverables such as P&IDs, specifications, GA drawings, and equipment schedules
• Act as the mechanical technical lead on multi-disciplinary projects coordinating with process, civil, and electrical engineers
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers
• Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, health & safety requirements, and water industry legislation
• Manage and review design inputs for feasibility studies and value-engineering exercises

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working toward Chartership
• Significant experience in mechanical design within the water or wastewater sector
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Solidworks
• Strong knowledge of UK water industry standards (WIMES, BS EN standards)
• Proven capability in leading multi-disciplinary project teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AMP capital delivery frameworks
• Experience in digital engineering or model-based design
• Knowledge of sustainability frameworks and low-carbon design principles
