About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority for structural design topics related to engine nacelles for in-service and new development programs
- Lead and execute complex structural design projects ensuring compliance with engineering standards and certification requirements
- Develop high-quality 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using advanced CAD tools
- Support the design and development of advanced nacelle structures for future aircraft platforms through conceptual design and feasibility studies
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical oversight to junior and mid-level engineers
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Stress, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, and Program Management teams
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies early in the design phase
Requirements
- STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and minimum 5 years of experience
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical or aerospace design engineering, preferably in propulsion systems or nacelles
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks, or NX
- Expertise in GD&T practices, tolerance stack-ups, and design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Experience with Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Experience using PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Enovia
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in advanced concept development or technology maturation programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of structural principles, materials behavior, and aerospace certification requirements
- Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and influence teams with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
