Principal Linux Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build, patch, and test userspace packages in the operating system
• Improve tooling and automation for the package-building process
• Remediate CVEs in RPM packages
• Customize and optimize packages to improve customer experience
• Develop automated tests for software and systems
• Participate in architecture-level discussions and planning
• Drive proofs of concept and minimum viable products
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and open-source communities
• Support services through system design consulting and capacity planning

Requirements

• Understanding of Linux OS packaging (RPM or DEB)
• Deep understanding of Linux operating system internals
• Experience with Linux administration, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Proficiency in Bash, YAML, XML, JSON, and REST APIs
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes
• Experience with Ansible playbooks
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Experience with Python or GoLang

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with DoD STIG/SCAP/RADIX processes
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment using agile methodologies
