Principal Kubernetes Solutions Architect

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain Kubernetes clusters with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and security
• Manage core Kubernetes services including networking, storage, workload scheduling, and RBAC
• Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes Operators to automate operational tasks
• Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives using tools like Terraform
• Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications
• Build custom automation tools and scripts using Python, Go, or Bash
• Serve as a Kubernetes subject-matter expert and mentor development teams
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and recommend Kubernetes-native solutions
• Break down large projects into actionable tasks for junior team members

Requirements

• 10 years of relevant experience
• Advanced proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
• Significant experience architecting and managing Kubernetes clusters (Amazon EKS or equivalent)
• Strong command of Kubernetes RBAC and security policies
• Experience designing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines
• Thorough understanding of Kubernetes networking and Linux/Unix systems
• Proficiency with Git and GitOps workflows
• Must hold and maintain DoD 8140 certifications
• Active TS/SCI federal security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with VMware vSphere or OpenShift
• Proven experience building custom Kubernetes operators
• Familiarity with Ansible
• Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Advanced programming skills in Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript
• Understanding of OIDC, OAuth2, LDAP, and SAML
• Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS, or Kubestronaut)
