Principal Hardware Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) for avionics computers, including processors, memory, and interfaces
• Perform schematic capture of digital and analog mixed-signal electrical circuit designs
• Oversee Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout and ensure design for manufacturability (DFM), testability (DFT), and cost (DTC)
• Utilize lab equipment for the integration testing of hardware designs
• Work with Avionics I/O protocols such as Ethernet, ARINC 429, MIL-STD 1553, and PCIe
• Mentor and delegate technical tasks to less experienced engineers

Requirements

• STEM degree and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 5 years of experience
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with hardware
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• U.S. citizenship is required for access to program information

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Defense or Aerospace industry
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC, lightning protection circuits, and testing
• Proficiency with electrical circuit simulation and PCB layout software tools
• Experience with avionics regulatory and certification requirements (TSO, DO-160, DO-254, or MIL-STD-461)
• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions
