Principal Fire Surveyor

Responsibilities

• Carrying out active and passive fire protection systems surveys and technical reports
• Performing compliance assessments against British Fire Safety Legislation and standards (ADB, BS9999, BS9991, BS7974)
• Updating the passive fire protection technical knowledge base
• Undertaking third party oversight of fire stopping and fire compartmentation installations
• Liaising with product manufacturers regarding tested details and evidence
• Conducting visual fire door inspections per BS8214
• Managing a client base and exceeding expectations
• Providing in-house CPD presentations
• Traveling to client sites for surveys and meetings, including overnight stays

Requirements

• Degree in Building Surveying, Fire Safety Management, or similar discipline
• Full UK driving licence and access to a private vehicle
• Understanding of fire safety design and guidance for various building types
• Experience in fire compartmentation surveys and advising contractors
• Ability to author in-depth technical reports using digital software and Microsoft Word
• Proficiency in using mobile apps for survey data input
• Advanced knowledge of construction methods and refurbishment schemes
• Knowledge of internal passive fire protection products and testing regimes
• High attention to detail during on-site surveying processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Fire Risk Assessment process
• Experience carrying out intrusive external wall surveys on high-rise, office, or historic buildings
