Principal Fire Protection Engineer

Responsibilities

• Deliver fire protection and detection services that meet customer and regulatory specifications on time and within budget
• Provide technical support within the mechanical engineering team for the power generation industry
• Size, select, specify, and perform technical evaluations of bids and vendor documents
• Perform fire water distribution hydraulic calculations and design fire alarms and suppression systems
• Conduct fire and explosion assessments and manage hazardous area classifications
• Proactively resolve discrepancies between project requirements and customer needs
• Communicate effectively with project stakeholders and maintain consistency across engineering disciplines

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering
• Extensive experience in the design and analysis of fire protection systems for the power generation industry (including simple and combined cycle plants)
• Experience with fire water distribution hydraulic calculations
• Experience with fire alarms, suppression systems, and explosion protection
• Experience with fire and explosion assessments
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Sound knowledge of local and international statutory and regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States
