Principal Field Application Engineer - Auto MCU

Responsibilities

• Provide customer-facing technical support to OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and ecosystem partners for NXP Automotive MCU platforms.
• Enable customer design-in activities by guiding hardware and software integration, including Ethernet TSN, CAN-FD, and on-chip security engines.
• Support customers with system bring-up and development, including boot configuration, multi-core initialization, and integration of AUTOSAR MCAL or real-time drivers.
• Advise customers on system-level architecture topics such as zonal gateway architectures, virtualization, and ECU consolidation for Software-Defined Vehicle programs.
• Deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, proof-of-concept evaluations, and training materials to support pre- and post-sales activities.
• Drive structured escalation processes for complex technical issues, coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in an FAE, applications engineering, or design engineering role, specifically focused on automotive microcontrollers.
• Demonstrated expertise with embedded systems design and ARM Cortex-M/R/A architectures.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems and experience with common development tools (IDEs, debuggers, compilers).
• Experience with real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, PX5, or AutoSar OS) and embedded software development methodologies.
• Experience with AUTOSAR MCAL configuration and integration.
• Proficiency with debugging tools such as JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Willingness to travel for customer meetings and technical training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of automotive MCU security implementation.
