Principal Engineer - Traffic Safety

Responsibilities

• Support the development and periodic update of Dubai’s Traffic Safety Strategy and implementation roadmap.
• Provide expert guidance on the formulation and revision of traffic laws, regulations, and enforcement policies.
• Contribute to long-term planning of road and intersection designs using safety-by-design principles.
• Oversee the identification, assessment, and treatment of accident blackspots using field inspections and geospatial analysis.
• Implement and manage the road safety audit system across all project phases, from design to post-opening.
• Review temporary and permanent traffic diversion plans to assess safety implications during major works.
• Recommend AI and data analytics-based enhancements for accident prediction and safety monitoring.
• Conduct post-incident technical reviews to propose design or operational changes to prevent recurrence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Traffic Safety Engineering.
• 7+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years of experience with a Master’s degree.
• Proven experience with crash analytics and geospatial analysis.
• Strong knowledge of road safety audits and international safety benchmarks.
• Ability to perform periodic field inspections at crash locations and high-risk intersections.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Transportation Safety or Traffic Engineering.
• Experience with futuristic safety topics such as autonomous vehicles and smart monitoring technologies.
