Principal Engineer, Team Lead - Motion Planning

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team within the motion planning organization, focusing on planning algorithms and constraint generation
• Provide technical direction on architectural strategies, resource allocation, and technical debt management
• Deliver a robust, scalable, and safety-prioritized planner through all development phases
• Adopt a metrics-driven approach to enhance technical components and planning methodologies
• Mentor team members and foster an inclusive, collaborative work environment
• Partner with project managers to develop and execute technical roadmaps

Requirements

• Over two years of experience managing a development team
• Masters or PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Proven history of delivering production-quality motion planners in a leadership role
• Advanced proficiency in search algorithms
• Experience developing motion planning solutions using ML
• Expertise in C++, Linux, and Python, with knowledge of SQL
• Strong understanding of motion planning under uncertainty and dynamic environments
• Knowledge of robotics algorithms in localization, perception, and control systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Autonomous Vehicles or robotics industry
• Experience using simulation tools
• Experience with Verification & Validation for safety-critical systems
