Principal Engineer Team Lead, AV Behavior

Responsibilities

• Decompose ODD requirements into system and subsystem behaviors and interfaces
• Convert legal and industry policy narratives into mathematical or specific requirements
• Define key metrics and reward functions to advance performance assessment frameworks
• Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team
• Partner with Autonomy, Infrastructure, and Systems teams to drive design improvements
• Leverage data science techniques to understand the problem space and drive resolution
• Incorporate learning methods and classical metrics to improve performance evaluation

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Autonomous Systems, or Robotics
• Or Master's degree/PhD with 5+ years of experience
• 3+ years of experience leading data-driven evaluation programs for autonomous driving or safety-critical technologies
• Proven track record in decomposing ODD requirements into vehicle capabilities and driving behavior logic
• Expertise in leveraging large-scale simulation, track, and road data
• Strong foundation in statistical methodology and Data Science
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data visualization techniques
• Excellent communication skills for technical and executive audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Autonomous Systems, or Robotics
• Familiarity with SOTIF, ISO 26262, UL4600, and AVSC Behavior competencies
• Experience with Reinforcement Learning (RL)
• Experience establishing human benchmarks and naturalistic driving behaviors
• Experience working in agile, global, and distributed teams
