Principal Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support highly available, scalable systems providing golden sources of data to support critical business functions.
• Incorporate generative AI, LLM orchestration, and agentic workflows into data solutions to drive efficiency.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to analyze technical problems and design solutions that solve complex challenges.
• Lead the improvement of a modern tech stack, including microservices deployed to AWS using K8s.
• Drive architectural decisions and contribute to firmwide libraries and reusable components.
• Own end-to-end delivery of strategic, cross-functional projects while ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
• Mentor software engineers on best practices, modern frameworks, cloud technologies, and AI.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial services or hedge funds.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting listed and OTC instruments typical in a multi-strategy fund.
• Minimum of 7 years of Object-Oriented development experience (Java highly preferred).
• Expertise in system design and architecture, preferably with stateful reactive microservices.
• Practical experience using generative AI for technology delivery, including MCP servers and LLM orchestration.
• Experience with relational and in-memory databases (e.g., Postgres, SingleStore).
• Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka.
• Proven track record of leading strategic technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS cloud services and container orchestration via K8s.
• Knowledge of DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD and build automation.
• Experience with UI development using React.
• Background in Reference and Master Data Management within financial services.
• Experience with in-house or vendor Security Masters.
• Interest in financial markets, economics, or mathematics.
