Principal Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build a standardized warehouse integration layer for third-party operators
• Architect Quince’s proprietary Warehouse Management System (WMS) for inbound and outbound workflows
• Own the architecture and evolution of the end-to-end returns and reverse logistics platform
• Drive adoption of AI-first engineering practices and AI-powered operational automation
• Define the long-term technical vision and architecture roadmap for warehouse engineering
• Mentor senior engineers and lead architecture reviews across distributed teams

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale operational or supply chain systems
• Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Deep expertise in building highly reliable systems with critical data integrity requirements
• Experience designing integration platforms and standardized scalable frameworks
• Strong understanding of multi-tenant architecture, API design, and data isolation
• Experience leading technical strategy across multiple teams and business domains
• Strong understanding of inventory management and fulfillment workflows
• Experience leveraging AI-enabled development workflows and integrating AI into platforms

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience building or architecting Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) at scale
• Experience with commercial WMS platforms and custom-built vs vendor-based solutions
• Familiarity with reverse logistics, refurbishment, and disposition workflows
• Experience in e-commerce fulfillment, 3PL operations, or large-scale warehouse networks
• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms serving external customers
• Background in high-growth consumer, retail, or logistics technology organizations
