Principal Engineer - P&C Projects

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed engineering, design, and calculations for P&C projects, including scoping, budgeting, and construction phases.
• Maintain and interpret complex technical drawings, including schematics and single-line diagrams.
• Oversee engineering studies to evaluate equipment and protection system performance to ensure system reliability.
• Develop and specify equipment and technical requirements for project assignments.
• Ensure all engineering designs comply with company, local, state, and national codes and standards.
• Lead and guide the technical development of the Protection Engineering group.
• Collaborate across departments and work with cross-functional project teams to support project needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in power system protection.
• Expert knowledge of engineering design, national/international standards, and compliance requirements.
• Deep expertise in substation protection and control design.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance environments (Local, State, and Federal).

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (PE) License.
• Expertise in performing complex protection coordination analysis.
• Demonstrated project management skills and ability to lead complex, high-impact projects.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for complex technical issues.
• Ability to mentor and develop team members in technical skills.
• Experience acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and liaison for contractors.
