About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead research and development of novel algorithms and sub-systems for motion planning in autonomous driving
- Lead cross-functional projects to define or upgrade existing interfaces
- Monitor overall system performance and develop technical strategies to address deficiencies
- Architect and integrate complex combinations of motion planning and prediction algorithms
- Design and build a robust, scalable, and high-performance codebase for rapid prototyping and evaluation
- Drive technical collaboration with perception, prediction, and control components
- Mentor junior and senior team members to foster technical excellence
Requirements
- PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or Master's with 7+ years experience)
- 10+ years of research experience in robotics or motion planning
- 5+ years of C++ software development for high-performance systems
- Proven track record of leading technical development from formulation to production deployment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with probabilistic models (Gaussian mixture models, Hidden Markov Models, Particle Filters)
- Experience with machine learning techniques for decision making under uncertainty
- Experience with the Bazel build framework
