Principal Engineer - Mechanical

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of mechanical engineering services, specifically focusing on HVAC for railway stations and buildings.
• Perform detailed design work in accordance with international building regulations and relevant codes of practice.
• Conduct complex technical calculations, including heat load, duct and pipe sizing, and pressure drop calculations.
• Manage equipment selection for systems such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, boilers, fans, and pumps.
• Review and monitor technical calculations, ensuring high standards of QA and technical sign-off.
• Mentor, coach, and supervise junior engineers and CAD technicians to raise technical competence within the team.
• Liaise closely with the WSP Australia team to ensure seamless project delivery and communication.
• Prepare technical submittals for various materials and equipment.
• Ensure all designs meet statutory, regulatory, and Health & Safety requirements.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in HVAC design for railway station building services or similar large-scale infrastructure.
• Proficiency in technical software including IES, HAP, Hevacomp, and Camel.
• Strong knowledge of drafting and modeling software such as AutoCAD, MEP Revit, and Microstation.
• Excellent command of the English language and technical terminology.
• Demonstrated ability to manage delegated tasks and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional membership or qualification (CEng) from an international professional institution.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
