Principal Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of complex construction engineering services, including temporary works design, checking, and technical assurance
• Act as Project Lead, managing technical scope, programme, budget, and client relationships from bid through to delivery
• Oversee and contribute to design outputs such as calculations, drawings, reports, and risk assessments
• Ensure compliance with CDM, SHEMS, and QMS
• Identify technical risk and deliver alternative solutions and value engineering to improve buildability and commercial outcomes
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and supporting training initiatives

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer or member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. CEng MICE)
• Significant post-qualification experience
• Strong background in temporary works design, integrated with permanent works
• Proven experience leading projects and managing multidisciplinary teams
• Experience engaging with clients and stakeholders
• Sound commercial awareness including experience with bids, fees, programme, and budget management
