Principal Engineer-Hardware

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the development of electronic systems for next-generation atomic clocks
• Liaise with Software and Mechanical Design Teams to ensure robust and producible product designs
• Guide and mentor a focused group of electrical engineers on best practices for new product development and sustaining engineering
• Develop and execute test and qualification plans for engineering prototypes
• Design and capture schematics using CAD suites and collaborate with layout designers
• Manage electrical designs in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, including creating bills of material and engineering change orders
• Provide troubleshooting support to production for new and existing products

Requirements

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience in hardware design
• Complete understanding of analog designs, such as active filters and control loops
• Strong knowledge of Mixed Signal circuits and Data Converters
• Knowledge of the physical layer of digital interfaces including USB, SPI, and I2C
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and product specifications
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and interface with management in a corporate setting
• US citizenship or permanent residency is required due to export control regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with component selection for space applications with radiation requirements
• Experience with Programmable Logic (FPGA/CPLD) and HDL (VHDL/Verilog) design
• Knowledge of RF and Microwave synthesis
• Experience with crystal oscillator design
• Familiarity with Agile PLM tools
