Principal Engineer, Hardware

Responsibilities

• Set vehicle architecture across mechanical and electrical disciplines, including retrofit kits and integrated platforms.
• Own integration points for sensor mounts, compute enclosures, wiring harnesses, and power distribution.
• Drive design-for-manufacturing (DFM) rigor to enable high-volume production.
• Lead the development of safety-critical drive-by-wire systems and redundancy architectures.
• Manage sensor suite design, compute hardening, and vehicle BOM standardization.
• Select and manage technical relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers.

Requirements

• 15+ years of hands-on hardware engineering experience with shipped physical products.
• Dual depth in both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines.
• Proven track record of taking products from architecture through DFM to volume production.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with functional-safety standards such as ISO 26262 or ISO 13849.
• Direct experience designing or qualifying certified drive-by-wire systems.
• Background in commercial vehicles, industrial robotics, or aerospace ground systems.
