Principal Engineer, Data Engineering

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy high-performance computing (HPC) clusters and systems based on organizational requirements and industry best practices.
• Configure hardware components, network, and storage systems to optimize performance and reliability.
• Perform routine maintenance, including software updates, patches, and system upgrades to ensure security and optimal performance.
• Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning to proactively address bottlenecks.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to HPC system users.
• Develop and deliver training sessions on best practices and efficient utilization of HPC resources.
• Implement security protocols, access controls, and data protection measures to safeguard infrastructure.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience as an HPC Administrator or in a similar role managing production HPC systems.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing HPC cluster software such as Slurm, NC, LSF, or Grid Engine.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix system administration and shell scripting.
• Experience with NFS and storage solutions such as NetApp or ISILON.
• Familiarity with networking principles including TCP/IP, VLANs, and InfiniBand.
• Mandatory experience within the semiconductor domain.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Singularity.
• Knowledge of workload orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with automation and scripting languages like Ansible.
• Experience with Dell or Cisco UCS servers in HPC environments.
• Professional certifications such as HPC Systems Professional or Cray Certified System Administrator.
